It’s been so busy around here that the thought of a long post has been a bit overwhelming. So I thought I’d spend the next few days posting some quick short reviews on some really yummy items I’ve tried lately.
I ordered this tube of Olo’s Chipotle Paste from Amazon. I had seen a review of it on a ‘men’s food’ site (is ‘men’s food’ really different from women’s food? Good is good!). They suggested putting it on grilled corn and it made me drool so badly I had to order it………
When it first came in the mail – I opened it and my husband tried a little. He said it was very strong and burning so I was hesitant at first putting it on anything. Finally I just had to try it, so I put it on some corn I was about to grill. I wrapped the corn in foil and put this, butter and some salt on it first. It was fantastic!!! I wish I had put even more on the corn – the grilling and heat mellows it out. Next time I’m going to mix it with the butter first so it will spread evenly over the whole cob and I will use much, much more and perhaps a bit of Cojita cheese? It just makes you happy it’s summer.
I think it would be great in chilli too. I have plans to make a very fancy pot in the near future.
Another tube that I’ve really been enjoying is the Mutti Tomato Paste I got for free from Eataly. I won a contest where I had to find all the Easter eggs on their website (literally pictures of Easter eggs). It took me forever – their site is HUGE! It was worth it though as I got $50 dollars worth of free products! I figured I’d get this tube of paste because it just seemed wrong to order from a large Italian grocery store and not get anything to make my Bolognese sauce better.
This added such a richness to my sauce – it was out of this world! I’m going to make sure I always have a supply of this at the house so I can impress guests with my Italian cooking!
